Tom Cruise brought a Hollywood touch to the closing ceremony of the Paris Olympics, diving from the roof of the Stade de France to celebrate the transition from the Paris Olympics to the Los Angeles Games in 2028. After HER played the US national anthem, the actor jumped from the roof of the Stade de France, the largest stadium in the country, and landed on the stage. He was greeted with thunderous applause and saluted by Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass, who was presented with the Olympic flag by Paris Mayor Anne Hidalgo during the ceremony. The actor then hopped on a motorcycle with the flag in tow and rode out of the stadium to make the symbolic handover to Los Angeles.

As Red Hot Chili Peppers By the Way played in the background, Tom Cruise drove through the streets of Paris and onto the airport, climbing out of the door of a cargo plane. He parachuted from the plane in a pre-recorded segment, landing near the Hollywood sign. Once he touched down at the famous landmark, he attached the five Olympic rings. “I’m incredibly proud of everything we’ve accomplished together. Can’t wait to share our next Mission!” the star wrote on X (Twitter), responding to a post from Paramount Pictures that noted how invaluable Tom Cruise was to the blossoming and proliferation of action cinema and that last night’s closing ceremony was one for the ages.

“Today’s closing ceremony gave the world another incredible Tom Cruise moment, one that reminds us of so many moments that have come before. No matter what the mission, he has always accepted it. We want to take this opportunity to thank Tom for all he has done for our industry and our art forms, both as an actor and as a producer. He has consistently strived to achieve the highest level of proficiency in all the skills that would enhance the story and the experience for the audience.”
