It has been announced that the Japanese title of the sequel to Gladiator, directed by Ridley Scott, will be Gladiator II. The latest overseas trailer has also been released. Lucius (Paul Mescal) loses his beloved wife to the invasion of the Roman Empire army led by General Acacius (Pedro Pascal). Having lost everything, Lucius vows to take revenge on Acacius. He meets a mysterious man named Macrinus (Denzel Washington), who notices the rage burning brightly in Lucius' heart and leads him to Rome.
Lucius, who has become Macrinus's own gladiator, steps into the battle that awaits him at the Colosseum, an arena where only strength matters, with a desire for revenge in his heart. Around him, various characters have their own intentions, including Macrinus, who is vying for power, the twin emperors Geta (Joseph Quinn) and Caracalla (Fred Heckinger), who continue to flaunt their authority without caring about the starving Roman citizens, Lucilla (Connie Nielsen), the older sister of the former emperor Commodus (Joaquin Phoenix) who appeared in the previous film and Maximus' former lover played by Russell Crowe, Lucius' mother, and General Acacius, who is forced to fight Lucius who is trying to kill him. Ridley Scott continues to serve as director. The "sequel" to the legendary masterpiece representing his filmography will return to the theater with overwhelming power and burning passion, further upgraded by the latest technology. "Gladiator II" will be released in Japan on November 15, 2024.
