The next installment of one of Netflix’s most successful film franchises is gaining serious momentum, as sources tell Deadline that Philip Barantini is in the running to direct Enola Holmes 3. Deals haven’t closed yet, but franchise star Millie Bobby Brown is expected to return as sources say this will likely be her next project once production on the final season of Netflix’s Stranger Things wraps. Mary Parent, Ali Mendes, and Alex Garcia will produce Enola Holmes 3 for Legendary Entertainment, with Millie Bobby Brown and Bobby Brown producing for Brown’s production company, PCMA Productions. Jake Bongiovi and Isobel Richards will executive produce for PCMA.

The previous two films followed Enola as she followed in the footsteps of her famous brother, Sherlock Holmes (Henry Cavill), solving mysteries across London. Based on the popular Nancy Springer book series, the original film landed on the streamer during the pandemic in 2020 and quickly found a fan base. Since the first film was released, Netflix has moved quickly to get more sequels underway. Given the strong ties to Brown, who not only starred in one of their most successful series, Stranger Things but also in several films, including the upcoming The Electric State, the Enola Holmes franchise has always been a priority for executives.

Millie Bobby Brown and Netflix's Enola Holmes Franchise: Enola Holmes debuted on Netflix in September 2020. Directed by Harry Bradbeer with a screenplay by Jack Thorne, the film adapts Nancy Springer's The Enola Holmes Mysteries and follows Sherlock's younger sister, Enola, as she tries to find her missing mother. The film also stars Sam Claflin, Helena Bonham Carter, and Louis Partridge. A sequel, Enola Holmes 2, was released in November 2022. Millie Bobby Brown, Henry Cavill Louis Partridge, and Helena Bonham Carter all returned to reprise their roles, while the film also introduced Himesh Patel’s Doctor Watson.

In November 2022, Millie Bobby Brown told ScreenRant that she was very eager to make a third Enola Holmes movie. “I would love to be a part of another one,” she said. “I would love to see her take on more cases, be put under pressure, put in crazy situations, feel vulnerable again. I love seeing her get back to work. There is no release date set for Enola Holmes 3 yet.
