The trend of celebrity lookalike contests is taking off in the US, the latest being Glen Powell. The fun and viral trend of celebrity lookalike contests continues. The latest is the contest dedicated to lookalikes of the American actor Glen Powell, known for Top Gun: Maverick and All But You. To everyone's surprise, the one to participate in the event, even if from a distance, was Powell himself, who promised the winner of the contest a cameo in his latest film.

Glen Powell, his mother, and aunt also attend his lookalike contest to choose the winner

It all started last month with the first Timothée Chalamet lookalike fan contest in New York – in which Chalamet himself participated in person, to the great surprise of all the participants. The event went so viral online that numerous lookalike contests were born in the following weeks, starting with the one for Zendaya, the one for The Bear star Jeremy Allen White, the one for Tom Holland, and the trio from the film Challengers composed of Zendaya, Josh O’Connor and Mike Faist. Also worthy of note is the one dedicated to Paul Mescal, which took place strictly in Ireland, the one for the singer Zayn, and even the most recent one for the international pop star Jungkook of the Korean band BTS.

The latest one, however, was the one held in Austin in the state of Texas, Glen Powell’s hometown, where hundreds of young people gathered at the Shores Auditorium to participate in the contest for the most similar lookalike to the actor. Giving more attention and credit to the event was the presence of Powell’s mother and aunt at the contest who even helped select the winner. To everyone’s great surprise, Powell also made a video call during the event promising a cameo in his next film to the winner! During the call, the actor joked, “We don’t need masks because we all have the same face, it’s the perfect crime. They can’t get us all because we are one, a glen-criminal organization. And I know it’s November, but if no one is shirtless for no reason, then the whole event is bullshit because you didn’t try hard enough.”

The actor then promised a cameo in his film, “I know there’s a couple of dollar bills and a hat on the line here, but I wanted to say that the winner today will get a prize from me personally. I think you know my parents make cameos in every movie I do, but today, the winner of the Glen Powell lookalike contest will win a cameo for their parents or any member of their family in my next movie. I’m totally serious. That’s a $6 million prize!” The actor concluded, “Please take a picture together for me, enjoy my favorite city, keep Austin weird, and I’ll see you around!”
